If you’re looking for the perfect outdoor adventure, look no further than Utah. With its stunning red rock canyons, towering mountains, and wide open deserts, Utah is home to some of the most spectacular hiking trails in the United States. Whether you’re a novice or an expert, you’ll find plenty of trails to suit your skill level and interests. Here’s a guide to some of the best hiking trails in Utah.

The Zion Narrows. The Zion Narrows is undeniably one of the most popular hiking trails in Utah. This 16-mile round trip trail winds through the narrowest section of Zion National Park’s canyon, and the views are nothing short of breathtaking. The trail is a mix of sand, gravel, and shallow water, and you’ll need to be prepared for some wading at certain points. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of the canyon walls, and you may even spot some wildlife.

The Timpanogos Cave Trail. With its stunning views of the Timpanogos Mountains, the Timpanogos Cave Trail is a must-do for any outdoor enthusiast. This 4.5-mile round trip trail starts at the Timpanogos Cave National Monument and winds up the mountain, eventually reaching the entrance of the cave. Along the way, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, and you may even spot some deer or elk. Once you reach the cave, you can take a guided tour to learn about the unique formation and the various species of bats that inhabit it.

Delicate Arch Trail. If you’re looking for a shorter hike with a big payoff, the Delicate Arch Trail is a perfect choice. Located in Arches National Park, this 3-mile round trip trail winds through the desert and offers stunning views of Delicate Arch, the iconic natural rock formation. Along the way, you’ll be able to explore the otherworldly landscape and see some of the park’s other striking features, like the Windows Section and the Courthouse Towers.

Angels Landing Trail. The Angels Landing Trail is one of the most challenging hikes in Utah, but the views are well worth the effort. This 5-mile round trip trail winds up the steep incline of the Zion National Park, and the last half-mile is a narrow path with sheer drop-offs on either side. It’s a thrilling adventure, and the views from the top are simply breathtaking.

Canyon Overlook Trail. The Canyon Overlook Trail is a short but rewarding hike in Zion National Park. This 1-mile round trip trail winds through the park’s canyon, and the views from the top are simply spectacular. You’ll be able to see the entire canyon, as well as some of the park’s other iconic features, like the Great White Throne and the Three Patriarchs.

The Wave Trail. Located in the Coyote Buttes North area of the Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness, the Wave Trail is one of the most unique hiking trails in Utah. This 3-mile round trip trail winds through the colorful sandstone formations, and the views are truly remarkable. It’s also a popular spot for photographers, since the wave-like formations create some stunning photographs.

Whether you’re looking for a short and sweet hike or a multi-day adventure, Utah has something for everyone. From the narrows of Zion National Park to the colorful sandstone formations of the Wave Trail, there’s no shortage of spectacular hiking trails in the Beehive State.
